Season 3
Season three reveals that Dan survives his injuries when his house caught fire and is planning to take revenge on the one who committed arson, which turns out to be his son, Lucas. In the episode, “From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea,” Nathan comes back to Tree Hill, after having a fight with his wife.

Haley wants to make peace with her, but Nathan feels doubtful. Moreover, lots of things change in Tree Hill. Haley and Brooke live in a house together, which feels weird since they were just in high school and not college. Brooke suggests to Lucas that they get themselves involved in a “non-exclusive” relationship, but when Rachel gets in the picture, Brooke suddenly feels intimidated. Dan oddly decides to run for mayor in Tree Hill.
